One Dimensional Gas
The model explores collision rate on one wall for this simple 1D gas. The slide control allows the temperature to be varied for qualitative exploration of the model. The collision counter p only works well if case scenarios are set up using the "add case" function in Modellus.
The problem to be tackled using the model is simply this. If we reduce w, the width of the box, to 50, by a factor of 1/2, how do we change the "temperature" to keep the collision rate the same as in the model scenario supplied? You need to add a case to the model with w 50. Then T must be selected carefully so that the collision rate is the same for both cases.
To tackle this problem you need to recall how the kinetic energy of gas molecules is related to T based on the kinetic theory model of chapter 13.

The model window should be hidden from view whilst tackling this problem.
